Troubleshooting HTTP 400 Errors in the NetSuite + HubSpot Integration

Last updated: November 2, 2026

An HTTP 400 (Bad Request) error means NetSuite rejected the record the integration sent. The cause is almost always the data or the mapping: a required field is empty, a value is the wrong type, a dropdown value doesn't match, or a custom NetSuite script rejected the save. Work through the checks below in order.

1. Find the failing record

  1. Sign in to SmartHub at hub.syncsmart.io and open Sync Logs.

  2. Filter by the Error or Failed status, or search for the record name or ID.

  3. Note the object (for example contact, company, deal or sales order), the sync direction and the full error message. The message usually names the field NetSuite rejected.

2. Check the field mappings

  • Every field NetSuite requires on the record is mapped in SmartHub and has a value in HubSpot. This includes fields your NetSuite form makes mandatory.

  • The field types are compatible; for example, a HubSpot text property is not mapped to a NetSuite number or currency field.

  • Dropdown and list values in HubSpot match the option values in NetSuite exactly.

After any mapping change, save after each field mapping change, then click Save changes and Deploy to publish it. Save alone only stores a draft.

3. Check the data on the record

  • Number and currency fields contain only numbers.

  • Date fields contain a valid date.

  • Required values are not blank on the HubSpot record you are syncing.

4. Check custom NetSuite scripts and workflows

Custom SuiteScripts or workflows on the record type can reject a save with their own validation errors, even when every mapped field looks correct. If the error message contains text your team wrote, a custom script is the source.

Some scripts throw their error after the record has already been saved. In that case NetSuite returns a 400 even though the record was created; the integration treats the create as failed, and the next sync creates a duplicate. This is most common on sales orders.

To fix it, have your NetSuite administrator:

  • Find the script or workflow that throws the error and change it so it does not reject records created by the integration, or make sure the fields it checks are mapped and populated.

  • Test the change in a NetSuite sandbox and confirm records are created once, with no 400 and no duplicate on the next sync.

  • Remove any duplicates the error already created.

5. Check the connection

The SyncSmart Integration Role installed by the bundle has the permissions the integration needs. If the token was created with a different role, or credentials were changed recently, see Install, Setting Up and Troubleshooting Connections.

6. Retry the record

Once the cause is fixed, edit the source record so the integration picks it up again on the next sync, then confirm a success entry for it on the Sync Logs page.

If the error continues

Contact SyncSmart support with the error message from Sync Logs, the object and record IDs involved, and the checks you have already made.
